Now seriously, we do not know why anyone would wish to skip this content as it builds a picture. Those who do skip are obviously very busy people. People who cannot spare the time to read all of this blog post or any of the other pointless content being piled on to the interweb thingy-ma-jig.

Skipping to this paragraph will not reveal the answer. We applaud everyone who did this though. It is a know fact that us humans paragraph hop, scan and are just plain lazy. Yep this is a thing. We all do it. HERE IS A STUDY (Bore Off).

In an effort to CAPTURE THESE TROUBLESOME website visitors the STUPID PARROTS use every trick available to them. They do this without an inclinking of how us humans actually tick. The next bit may seem a bit off track, but please bear with us.

TYPESETTING IS STILL A THING.

Typesetting is, well, the setting of type. It has been around for eons and is here to stay. That is until we all have chips embedded in to our persons to glean information without reading. You see we are all taught to read using a system. This system comes naturally and we do not even know it is happening.

Headlines catch our attention. The first paragraph gives us an idea of what we are going to read and then some well placed sub-headings allows content that we are not interested in to be skipped. We see this system everywhere which is why we humans simply conform to it subliminally. This raises the original question of how to increase website traffic by 10 times?

Tell people why they should visit your website. The channel you use is irrelevant. It could be a telephone call. It could be an email. May be even an online advertisement. Once you tell people the reason they should visit your website, and if it is a really good reason, then the website traffic increases.

It is hard to create good content. Now we are using the words GOOD CONTENT in relation to the search engines. According to the pundits, and we kid you not, this is how you create good content.

BLINDLY FOLLOWING THE MAKERS OF BLIND CONTENT.

Ooo that copy on the competitors website reads really well. Let’s take that copy, jiggy jig jig it and slop out some of our own good (rubbish) content.

For example, we have not posted for over a week. Why? Well 1. we are busy and 2. we had lost interest in posting. Everyone does, so do not fool yourselves. It is OK though we are back on the ball. We all face the same dilemmas. The easy route is to get some STUPID PARROT to take this on. They know what they are doing (NOT) and can churn heaps of steaming good (rubbish) content out to keep the search engines and us happy too.

REMEMBER DOING something is better than doing nothing. May be not? In our race to fill the interweb with oodles of stuff we can get caught up in looking to be unsure, indifferent or possibly arrogant. Our target audience are being bombarded with stuff. Some of it is spot on. Unfortunately the majority is just well stuff that some STUPID PARROT made up from a bit made up from another STUPID PARROT.

Go to the interweb (here is a search engine). It is great. You can find lots of top tips, all neatly numbered and ordered to wow your audience. It is as simple as 1, 2, 3 or even more than 50 simple to follow steps. So why do you need these steps? Why do steps count in search engine ranking? It is simple. Because the search engines like a numerical title. You know ones like. “3 ways to write good content” or 11 golden rules to writing good website content”.

There you have it then. Because we have added those numbers our numbers will improve. Well that is the theory anyway. HOLD ON, there are lots of theories. Each strongly believed in by the STUPID PARROTS. Yes they can get their analytics to show things are happening. Is this having an impact on business though? If it is what is that impact. Why did we do it? What was out goal?

THE DREADED BLOG POST.

OK as you can see we have been able to write a blog post. Whether it is of any value is an unknown. We are not asking anyone to give us feedback. We are not directing the reader to do anything. In fact we are just happily tapping away at the keyboard to make us feel we have brought some more stuff to the interweb. Stuff that no one will really read or even consider when buying what we sell. Yes there is great content out there and sometimes it will make an impact. An impact that we desired. Not one that we need to analyse and claw over to make a pretty infographic from.

We are going to carry on writing our blog post, but not strictly following the imposed criteria of word count, keywords, images, video and all that other stuff. Yes we do take these factors into consideration and yes we, like every other service out there need to. We believe in writing content that has a purpose. One that can bring limitless fines. Legal eagles love this fodder. They lap it up. Why? because the law has been broken. No defence is possible. It is just the amount of HARD COLD CASH that is negotiable. SIMPLES!

It is not just the financial cost. The professional costs are high too. No one wants there business to be seen as a cheapskate, a fraud, STUPID or even worst, dishonest. This law is not just about images and original text. It covers many things. Music, film, streaming TV shows and computer software are other examples. The STUPID PARROTS do not care about copyright. They see something of worth and like magpies swoop in. They like shiny things. The shiny things that someone else has toiled over. Being clueless is not an excuse for blatant STUPIDITY.

DID YOU KNOW that when you commission a business to do some of that creative stuff you may not own it? FOR EXAMPLE professional photographers may not release the copyright of the photoshoot you commissioned. The same applies throughout the creative world too. That brand name, logo or illustration may not be owned when commissioned. READ THE CONTRACT. Unless specifically commissioned with full copyright release the originator owns the copyright. INTERESTING STUFF this copyright thing-ummy bob.

A DAY IN THE COPYRIGHT MINEFIELD.

There we are blissfully stomping around thinking our path is safe. Then STUPID PARROTS come along. Laying hidden dangers along the beautifully planned route to success. BANG! our right leg just got blown clean off in the copyright minefield.

THERE IS HOPE. Yes there is always hope. Hope that the copyright owner will not discover the wrongs being inflicted upon them. HOW OLD IS THE MARKETER?

WE ARE SORRY if this causes any other reaction than being allowed to ask a simple question. We are not ageist, racist, politically one sided or set in any opinionated thought pattern. You see to be creative you need to understand and accept all human beings. EVEN THE STUPID PARROTS! (now that is hard).

IS MARKETING AGEIST?

The youth of today are the experts of tomorrow.

That is a pretty fair comment. “The youth of today are the experts of tomorrow”. We love youth, they do not think like the old farts. They are up to date with all the new technology, willing and ready to bring their youthful outlook to business.

WE SHOULD ENCOURAGE AND NURTURE their enthusiasm. Marketing is a young person’s game. If you are over 40 years young you have had it in marketing. You are shot, ready for the knackers yard or are just about to be put to pasture.

The marketer in business

As defined in the dictionary (we used the interweb) a marketer is “a person or company that markets goods (= makes them available in a way that encourages people to buy them, for example by advertising)”. The role, whether full time in the position or just another task of the office junior is to tell consumers what a business is about and what it offers the consumer.

Let’s flip this. If we talk about the financial direction of a business you will find that this is managed, controlled and directed by a senior person. Senior in position and years. It is their role to continually ensure the business’s financial success and ultimate future. Again this may be a full time position, but it will never be left to the office junior. There may be a young gun kicking about, but they are not the head honcho.

So in business financial management the older you are the wiser. In marketing it seems the opposite applies. Is marketing less important than finances? or rather is finance more important than marketing? MARKETING IS NOT FREE. To sell you need to market. We seem to have come to a chicken and egg situation.

ENTER THE STUPID PARROTS.

STUPID PARROTS DO NOT CARE about your chicken or egg. Like a fox they will circle the coop, waiting for the time to jump in and kill all the chickens that lay all the golden eggs. WE KNOW, we know it was a goose.

The person responsible for organising and managing a business’s marketing has done the right thing. They have called in the experts. Unfortunately most experts just want to take your money, not invest it in your business.

By invest we mean through delivering stuff that achieves a goal. Again we are not being ageist here but like we pointed out earlier in this blog, the older the person the wiser the person. That is just life experience. STUPID PARROTS DO NOT LIKE OLD PEOPLE. They cannot work their magic with older people. Strange that!

So back to the age of the marketer and the chicken and eggs. Young, middle aged or old age pensioner. It does not matter. A marketer has one ultimate goal and that is to do marketing stuff that has a positive effect on the business. Too many times we hear “we tried that and it did not work”. Ever thought to the real reason it did not work?

MAYBE, just maybe it was a combination of doing the wrong stuff and using those STUPID PARROTS!
